Karl Rinne, Ph.D. joined Powervation as chief technical officer in January 2006. Previously, Dr. Rinne served as a university lecturer in the areas of circuit design and computer architectures in the Electronics and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Limerick, Ireland, from 2001 to 2006. In addition, he headed the Mixed-Signal IC Design Research Group at the university’s Circuits and Systems Research Center (CSRC) for three years. Before that, he was principal design engineer with Artesyn Technologies, Commergy and Siemens AG, where he was responsible for research and development of state-of-the-art switching power converters. Dr. Rinne holds five U.S. patents and two European patents in the field of power electronics. In 1995, he earned his doctorate in advanced power conversion from the University of Limerick, Ireland.
