PMBus™ / SVID
PMBus
Power Management Bus (PMBus) is implemented over the industry standard SMBus serial interface (a version of I2C) and enables control, programming, and real-time monitoring of compliant products.
Two Powervation Controllers Connected to PMBus
Powervation controllers provide a PMBus compliant set of synchronous communication lines, with clock input (SCL), data input/output (SDA), and serial alarm output (SALRT). As a communication device, the Powervation products act only as a slave. Up to 184 slave addresses can be assigned through configuration inputs ADDR1 and ADDR2 (as well as any other alternative configuration method).
Currently Powervation products support >50 PMBus commands in addition to several manufacture specific commands related to output voltage, faults, telemetry, and others. Detailed Powervation specific PMBus information is available on the Application Notes page. Also, please see the PMBus specification (www.pmbus.org) for full details.
Powervation has entered into a licensing agreement with Power One for their Digital Power Technology so users of our PMBuscompliant digital system management products do not require it.
SVID
Some Powervation products support SVID commands derived from the Intel VR12/IMVP7 SVID Protocol. Please refer to specific SVID product data sheets for additional information.
